BIO:DIP was presented as a half-laboratory, half-spa two-person solo show with artists Hayden Dunham and Nicholas Lobo. On the first floor, Lobo presented three spa-sized swimming pools which he used as molds to cast homemade soap. His installation featured a thick layer of red lipstick smeared across the street-facing windows of the gallery space sourced from an industrial cosmetics lab. Dunham’s delicate installation, which experimented with glass, marble, silicon, and molten aluminum, conceptually focused on conditioning systems such as central air and water filtration, and the ways in which the body becomes a symptom of what is materially available. Both interventions explored material re-appropriation, logistics, the industrial cycle, and the material scale of body care.

On occasion of the exhibition, we hosted a DJ-Set and Stereo-Field Vocals performance by musician Caroline Polachek.
